Alpine Canada EL Ski Coaching Course
Jan 8 – Jan 9 all-day

The 3-day Entry Level course (one day indoor and two days on snow) includes training in free ski and gate drills for SL and GS, planning a daily training session, environment setting, and safety considerations when working with children from the Gliding Start to Skier Essentials stages. Candidates will learn the basics of the Snow Stars program. Practice coaching sessions are part of the course for each candidate.

The evaluation part of the course tests the candidate’s ability to demonstrate free skiing skills and Snow Stars drills. Candidates must pass the evaluation to get credit for the course.

Check with your Provincial Sport Organization for evaluation retests if you are not successful the first time.

On successful completion of the course you will achieve an Entry Level TRAINED certification status and become a member of the Alpine Canada Alpin-Canadian Ski Coaches (ACA-CSC).

This certification status will allow you to be hired by a club or ski school to start coaching in an entry level ski racing program.

The CASI Level 1 course is an introductory course, designed to give successful candidates the skills necessary to begin their role as a new instructor in the industry. Beginner teaching methods, understanding of basic snowboard technique, as well as lesson planning and effective communication skills will be addressed.

The Level 1 certification is a pre-requisite for the CASI Level 2 Instructor certification, as well as the Park Instructor course.
