Martock Safety Policies
Martock is proud to be a family friendly resort. We specialize in kids having fun! Weekdays we have school groups visiting during the day and different competitive youth teams training at night. Weekends mean all of our adult and children’s ski and snowboard programs are running. Weekends are also when most family’s come to enjoy time together on the trails and on the slopes.
Please respect the Alpine and Cross-Country Codes at all times, especially while in the Slow Zones on the Rope Tow and Buttermilk. These are trails dedicated specifically to beginner, novice and slower skiers and snowboarders. Skiers and snowboarders spending time in either Terrain Park or Half Pipe must obey the Alpine Code and the Freestyle Code.
All of Martock’s paid patrollers (Rangers) and volunteers are trained and certified by The Canadian Ski Patrol System (CSPS). The CSPS is a volunteer organization responsible for providing safety and first aid services at Martock and ski resorts across the country.
Our Ski Patrol will be diligent in ensuring our clients are skiing and snowboarding safely. Warning tickets and "time outs" will be given to anyone not adhering to the Responsibility Codes.
Skiers and snowboarders judged by our staff or patrollers to be offensive, or hazardous will be dealt with the following way:
- 1st warning – issued a caution ticket
- 2nd warning - loss of ticket; loss of pass for 24 hours
- 3rd warning - loss of pass for 7 days
- 4th warning - loss of pass for season
*If a skier or snowboarder’s actions are deemed serious enough, Martock reserves the right to skip any of the preceding steps.
Martock's Helmet Policy
Martock recommends wearing helmets for skiing and riding. Skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to educate themselves on the benefits and limitations of helmet usage. The primary safety consideration, and obligation under the Alpine Responsibility Code, is to ski and ride in a controlled and responsible manner.
Helmets are mandatory for the following:
- All members of school groups.
- All ski and snowboard lessons including multi-week programs.
- While in freestyle terrain or any ski or snowboard racecourse.
- All ski and snowboard coaches
- All ski and snowboard athletes during training and competition.
- All paid and volunteer staff (including contractors and members of the CSPS) who ski and ride as part of their duties and while skiing and snowboarding recreationally
Helmets are included at no extra charge in all rental packages and all rental/lesson packages.
